Soothing My Spirit

Just one little pumpkin...
But I've already started knitting pumpkins for our annual
Fall Festival.
This year's Morton Pumpkin Festival
will be our 50th year.
The Anheuser Clydesdales will even be here
to help us celebrate by prancing down Main Street
in all their
beautiful glory.
I live on Main Street.
I am already excited!
There is much to be done.
Lots and lots of knitting and crocheting.
My friend Mary Anne, my cousin Kathy and I always have a booth together at the Craft Faire.
We work hard all year long to come up with new ideas and keep the classic old ones that we know customers love and will be returning for.
We realized last year that we have out grown just one booth space
so this year we will be filling two spaces for the first time.
Needless to say,
our hooks and needles are flying through the air at lightning speed.
It always seems out of season to me to knit pumpkins and other
Fall and Winter items throughout the Spring and Summer
but in order to be ready I have to work constantly on these
as well as trying to come up with new things
for my
that are appealing for warm weather months.
That's why people see things like pumpkins and fingerless mitts
popping up on my shop in the Summertime :-)
Truth be told,
as long as I'm knitting or crocheting,
I am happy.

and it doesn't hurt the untroubled spirit either."

  1. Oh my, what an adorable pumpkin. I know exactly how it is to work your fingers to nubs for a craft sale. We sold my soap years ago, and it was fun but sooo much work. I'd love to see those Clydesdales in person. I hope you'll share pictures. :) Hope your weekend is super!

    1. I love making the pumpkins... and Thank You ... they are hard on my fingers and hands though {the pulling the tight part, with my RA}. You make soap... how divine! Craft shows ARE a whole lot of work. I wonder...Why? am I doing this. But... oh well. I will do my best to get some pictures of those beauties :-) You have a lovely weekend too!

    1. Thanks! I love this yarn too. It's 100% Wool. I always use wool for my pumpkins. It gives them better form. They stand up to the over stuffing and tight pulling for the puffing out of the ridges better when they are made of wool. Yes, I'm excited that we are growing... We have repeat customers who look for us every year :-)

I am fast but... this is my Day Job so I am also constant.
      It makes me seem fast.

  5. Such s perfect, beautiful pumpkin! That's so smart to be working on them in advance, it'll make the beautiful display of them this fall so much more magnificent, and significantly less stressful!
