To Market, To Market

I'm in a whirlwind of activity here...
Knitting needles, crochet hooks
&
Yarn
are flying in an absolute storm around me
as fast as I can make them go!
On September 12, 13 & 14
I will have a booth at the
Craft Faire
at our local
Pumpkin Festival,
along with my Monday night knitting girls :-)
We are so excited!
Anyone local can look for us under my business name ~
Front Porch Knits.
I had these darling tags custom made on an Etsy Shop.
There will of course be plenty of Pumpkin items for sale.
These are made from the Knit Picks patterns ~
Clove {crocheted}
&
Spice {knitted}
But you know me...
I can't show up without plenty of sweet little baby items as well.
Some covered baby hangers...
A pile of  baby hats...
The pattern for these can be found right
And some booties for precious piggies.

These are just a sampling of my wares.
I will try to squeeze out the time to show some more before it all goes.
In the mean time,
Mr. Parker,
{look how fast they grow!}
my 3 month old grandson,
is keeping me busy
Wednesday through Friday,
as his Mommy has returned to work.
A week ago Tuesday we had another new baby in our family.
My sister is now a Grammy for the first time.
Elijah Wade
born August 18
weighing a whopping
10 lbs. 6 oz. !!!
And my daughter Hilary is expecting her baby boy in a week or so!
PHEW!
It's a real good thing I love to make baby items :-)

Happy Holiday Weekend to All of You,
God Bless,

Summer Days

Hello There Everybody!
I have been away for
FAR TOO LONG!!!
I don't know where the time has gone.
In May I became Grammy again to this
Cute Little Fella
Parker
who is pictured here with his proud
Big Sister
Gabby.
So this is one reason {or two actually!}
I have been kept fairly busy all Summer ~
and off the computer :-)
Chelsea returns to work next week and I will have
Mr. Parker 3 days a week.
Then in September
my daughter
Hilary
is due to have a
BOY.
The Grammy Business
is in full swing here!
I have missed all of you however
and plan to get back into the magical
Land of Blog.
I have crocheted and knit
SO MANY
things
it is hard to know where to begin.
What with the baby mania
{in about a week my sister will by Grammy for the first time also, to a BOY as well}
plus I am getting ready for a big Craft Fair
in the middle of September.

The Pot Holders are a current
Custom Order
on my
Etsy Shop.
The beautiful embroidered tablecloth was a gift from my
 Mother in Law.
She bought it in
Italy
and decided she no longer needs it.
Lucky me!
It fits my dining room table perfectly :-)))

Happy, Happy Day to You ALL!
I hope & pray you are all well.

Rosy Heart Hat for Eliza

Back sometime ago,
I think in February,
I crocheted this
to put on a hat.
You may remember me showing it in a previous post
along with the beginning of the hat.
The free pattern for the knitted hat can be found
Well.....
Life got busy and the whole project found its way
to the bottom of my work basket.
Yesterday it surfaced looking like the last picture
and I decided it was TIME to FINISH IT!
The hat is an I Love You Gift for Eliza
who lives across the street from me.
Little Miss Eliza was born the day before my birthday.
This June she will turn 3 and I will turn 50.
We have been joined at the heart since the moment
we met when she was only 2 days old.
On the day Eliza celebrated her second birthday
this is what I saw when I looked out my front window.
Who could not fall in love with such sweetness?!
She almost never actually walks.
Instead she ...
hops,
spins,
dances
&
twirls.
And oftentimes she's doing it all in a pink tutu :-)

Spring Fling

I keep trying real hard to coax Spring weather
into my little corner of the world.
Everything I make looks like I'm on a
definite Spring Fling!
When I saw this sweet crocheted amigurumi hat pincushion
in the latest Simply Crochet issue I knew I would have to
give it a go :-)
Isn't it too darn cute?!!
Even its backside is pretty.
And it's nice for those of us who play with
yarn because it holds anything
from regular pins and needles
to darning needles.
Of course I have also had my hands in a few
more Springtime baby hats...
First a Flop Eared Bunny of my own design.
Flaunting a fluffy tail :-)
And a precious wee lamb hat.
I tweaked the original pattern here and there but only a very little.
The pattern was written by
I actually purchased it from Craftsy.

I have been like a chicken
{notice I didn't say "Spring chicken"}
without a head lately
with so much yarn flying left and right.
I've been working at stocking my Etsy Shop,
taking care of some local orders,
teaching more knitting and crochet lessons
than I usually do this time of year
plus....
getting ready for
babies.
As it turns out
Both
of my daughters are expecting them!!!
Woo ~ Hoo !!! :-)))
Also, my sister is going to be Grammy for the first time.
In May I will have a grandson,
in August my sister will have a grandbaby
in September I will have another grandbaby.
We are still waiting to find out what the other two babes are.
I will get back to you as soon as I know.
After this never ending Winter
it's sure going to be a
glorious Spring & Summer around here :-)))

Bunnies Make Me Smile

What is it about
Bunnies?!
Or even just things made to look like bunnies...
with bunny ears
&
bunny tails.
They're just so
cotton pickin' cute!
I have been working hard on my Etsy Shop.
Some of the bunnies have hopped on
and a few have already hopped off :-)
Here is a little
Bunny Parade...

The first 3 are Pocket Bunnies.

The next few are Bunny Egg Cozies.
I did this little fella for myself in a crochet pattern
I had never tried before.
{As I am allergic to chocolate I figured this is a good way to sneak a bit of it in}
While I think he's cute,
I prefer the Debbie Bliss knitted version.
The only thing I change about the pattern is I convert it to
knitting in the round.
I really don't see any reason to knit them
flat and seam them
when it's so much quicker and easier
to do them up on double pointed needles.
I hope you have enjoyed this early
Springtime Parade
because
that's
The End

Dreaming in Color

Okay~
Snow is beautiful
fluffy
sparkly
&
white
and I DO love it
but...
I am practically gasping for some
Color
in  my world,
as I am anxiously awaiting
Spring!!!
So I have grabbed every bit of colorful yarn
I can get my hands on and crocheted
some pretty doilies out of  my beautiful new book
by
Nicki Trench.
They are crocheted using
dk weight yarn to make them
a bit heavier than a typical doily
{part of the overall charm}.
The pattern name is
Vintage-style Vase Coaster.
They are so much fun to make!
Playing around with all of the color choices
is absolutely addictive :)))
I went from
Bright & Cheery
to
 Springtime Soft
to
Jewel Tone.
I'm loving it!
I always love projects by Nicki Trench!
And one more
Color Pop
before I say
Toot~a~Loo
to all of you for now
My next post will have bunnies running amuck!
This one will grow up to be
an Easter gift
for my sweet little
Gabby.
I will give you the details of where
you can find the pattern
when I show it all done up
{with a happy little face and backside}.

Have a lovely day!
And sneak in as much
Color
as you possibly can!

With Love,
Danette
