Soft Yarn & Pretty Needles

As I said yesterday, I have been digging my needles into dishcloths lately. I have been making as many in various colors, shapes and sizes as possible over the last week to give to my daughter Hilary for her upcoming birthday. She got married in the Spring and will put them to good use no doubt. Though she is a knitter herself {because Mom taught her a few years ago!} she wants some made by MY hands. A nice compliment.

As everyone knows, all projects start with the proper supplies and tools. So here's a peek at the ones I gathered for this venture. {LOVE the basket ~ $1.00 at the second hand store!}. The yarn is I LOVE THIS COTTON from HOBBY LOBBY. And I DO love it!

Then, of course we must have our pretty knitting needles. I am crazy about these blue and white beauties from CHIAGOO. They remind me of that lovley old china my grandmother had when I was a child. You know the pattern. Not only are they pretty, they're smooth as silk to work with, making 100% cotton glide along quite nicely.

Have a GREAT WEEKEND! I will start showing you all the individual dishcloths on Monday.

P.S.  Some things NEVER change! Even the little guy can't resist a  nice basket full of soft yarn! :)
I promise ~ I am NOT posing him in these yarn baksets. I leave the room for a single minute and when I return this is the nonsense I find. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

  1. Love the basket, you did better than me, I picked one up at a fleamarket for $3 and something made from "Mom" is always the best, so its a treasure to be sure! The Chiagoo needles are gorgeous! I have a few sets of Red lace needles (circular) from Chiagoo, but I've not seen these before. Wow! They would make you want to knit something, anything, just to see them in your hands. Have a beautiful day! :)

    1. Hello there Sweet Sarah!
Don't we just love fleamarket finds?!! Theses needles are a limited edition thing. Saw them first in an ad then found them at my LYS. Only have one pair ~ size 6. But may sneak out to buy at least one more before it's too late. Maybe in size 7. You have a beautiful day as well!

    1. He's a real hoot, isn't he?!! Little stinker won't stay out of my yarn. He's far worse about it than my cat is.

  3. Okay, so your little Chihuahua is SO CUTE! No dogs cuter than mine are allowed! Ha-ha-ha. But seriously, he's so sweet looking all curled up in your crochet. I scrolled down and saw another picture that showed his whole face better. Too cute! What would we do without our fur babies???

    1. That's hilarious Pammy Sue! Sounds like something I would say! You crack me up. Your little guy couldn't be cuter. Can't imagine what we'd do without them. I also have 2 obnoxious mini dachshunds and a cat. Oh! and 3 birds! Ha!

  4. Goodness. I so miss having a pup in the house. Our 17 year old corgi passed last year. A tiny dog would be my pleasure but our cat weighs in at 22 lbs. Clovis looks just like a panther. I will have to enjoy your wee one.

    1. Hello My Friend!
Sorry about your corgi! Such cute dogs they are. I had a dachshund live to 17. I would love a 22 lb. house panther!!!

  5. Oh those needles are very pretty.

It's unusual to see a dog in a yarn basket. Maybe he thinks he's a cat! :)

  7. Hi Danette, I am laughing about your little dog and where you found him, lol. Could it be that he wants you to knit him something up too, lol. How sweet, our little dogs are such good company and so loyal. Love the dishcloths. I was on a kick to make many awhile back. I used up all my cotton and then my mom gave me this huge cone of cotton and so there I go again. I did manage to use it all up too and now find myself handing out dish cloths to just about everyone who walks in the door. Those knitting needles are so different. I have never seen any with a design on them, but I did see some with bobbles on the ends. I believe it was in the back of a Molly Makes magazine?? Thank you for stopping by and becoming a follower of my blog. I have joined up to your blog too and will enjoy reading your posts, past and future. Have a good weekend.

    1. Hi Susanne!
I will enjoy your blog too! Thanks for joining mine as well. I love your profile. I get on a dishcloth knitting kick every summer for some reason. Both of my daughters got married within 6 months of each other {youngest in Oct. 2011 & oldest in April 2012} so they can each use a stack. Plus mine could use replenishing! I think the fact they are instant gratification is fun. Not like the sweaters and such that take up so much of our knitting time in the winter months! You have a great weekend new friend!

So good to hear from you! Isn't it funny how a cheap little basket can thrill us. Just fill it with yarn...:)

How are you Cute Thing?! Love your socks on your blog. And this little guy feels like a ball of yarn on my lap. He only weighs 3 lbs. He ususally weighs in at 3.4 or 3.5 but has been sick lately :((( Of course that's why he gets to lie about in Mommy's yarn... he needs the comfort! Ha!
