From Roses to Wristers

The last couple weeks have been challenging.
Last weekend I had a touch of a virus.
Feeling bad that I was feeling bad,
Scott brought roses home.
nothing compares to a
Wonderful Husband :)))
They were gorgeous on the dining room table.
They are now drying nicely.
I can never part with roses
and love them just as much
when they are dried.
While feeling icky,
I knitted up these
Mock Cable Wristers.
They took just one skein of
King George
made by
Bristol Yarn Gallery.
It's a divinely soft fiber of
Baby Alpaca, Merino Wool & Cashmere.
Yum ~ Yum!
I found the pattern in
60 Quick Knits.
They're heading for my Christmas gift stash.
 And on the doggie front:
I am keeping Jose's glucose level up with
regular feedings.
It is keeping the seizures at bay, Thank God.
However, he is still very sick.
It was discovered during a chest x~ray
and blood work on Friday
that he has
bacterial pneumonia.
Apparently, when he vomited early last week
he aspirated :(((
His Mommy is still giving him
He is on an antibiotic and diarrhea medication.
We are running a vaporizer to help with his breathing.
The vet says he is not out of the woods yet
but is pleased there is a tiny bit of improvement.
He is very weak and I have to help him stand at his water dish.
Then I tuck him back into his little bed,
which is in whatever room I am in.
{That is unless he is wanting Mommy to hold him and wrap him in her sweater}.
Thankfully being home is my full time job.
We have a long way to go.
We appreciate all of your prayers and positive healing thoughts.

  1. Oh Danette, sorry I didn't see your last post about poor wee Jose, it brought a tear to my eyes reading it (I adore Chihuahuas, all dogs, but especially Chis). I hope he continues to improve, sounds like he is getting the best care ever. Hope your virus is going too, your husband sounds lovely, roses are so pretty. Don't forget to show them again when they've dried, I've never tried drying flowers :) xx

  2. Thanks Cheryl ~ it has been very stressful for the little fella and his mommy. He continues to eat, drink, rest & takes all his meds though and the vet calls every day to check on him. He says it will be a slow process but he is hopeful. I pray over him every day and love on him and am thankful I am able to be home with him. He's only 3 pounds and has always been delicate. He will be 12 in February.
I am feeling better, thank you. And my hubby has always been more than wonderful :))) We will celebrate our 30th anniversary in December. Been together since I was 15.
I love dried roses as much as I do fresh ones. It is very easy to dry them. Give it a try!
    Love to you,

  3. Hi Danette..I hope you're feeling much better now..there are so many nasty viruses going around, aren't there? Poor little Jose..I'm sorry to read he's been so unwell...I know the worry this causes and hope everything improves soon for him...he's so lucky that you can always be there for him...x
Your roses are beautiful and will look so pretty dried...
    Susan x

    1. Thanks Susan!
I am feeling better. Still just adjusting to new medication myself. Today is my weekly injection day so I will be napping on the couch this afternoon :) with doggies around me, of course. I do love dried roses and have them throughout my house. You have a lovely day,

  4. Aww...I'm sorry to hear your little baby is so sick. Isn't excruciating to see them weak and helpless like that? I'll say a prayer for him. Poor little guy. Glad you are feeling better now.

    1. Thank you so much Pammy Sue! I think your doggie prayers must be mighty strong. You do know how it is. We are kindred spirits on this whole doggie thing :)
I am over my virus, thankfully. Today is the day I self inject Enbrel, which I am still adjusting to. I will be knocked out on the couch by mid afternoon, surrounded by furry babies!
      Have a lovely day,

  5. Oh, I'll be praying for Jose. Poor baby.

    1. Thank you so much Pom Pom! I must head to your blog to see if there is an update on Bill. I have been praying for him every day.
      Love to you,
