Scallops & Shells Shawl

Hello to all my long lost friends!
So sorry I have been absent here lately ~
My dear Mother In Law,
who is 87 and lives next door to me,
has been very sick :(((
I spent one week in the hospital with her
and am now looking after her at home.
She had acute pancreatitis
and
went into heart failure at the hospital.
All prayers are appreciated!
Her name is Pat.
During all those hours of hospital time,
I managed to finish my
Scallops and Shells Shawl.
The pattern is in
Serenity
A Crochet Collection
by
Knit Picks.
I used
Gloss Fingering
{70% Merino Wool, 30% Silk}
yarn in a lovely dusty {almost silvery} purple called
Velveteen.
This yarn was wonderful to work with
and feels nice and soft.
And more to the
point ~
the finished project is very lacy
&
Oh
So
Feminine.

I hope you are all happy and healthy.
I will spend the next several days,
while we have this nearly 100 degree heat snap,
catching up on all of your blogs.
Blessings,
Danette

    1. Hi Shari~
I remembered that your MIL is next door to you too. Isn't it hard to see them age? I truly appreciate your prayers. She has been my other mother since I was 15 and is very dear to me. A few days ago she did something very unexpected ~ she gave me her wedding ring from Scott's dad. He passed away almost 26 years ago and she is remarried. The ring has her original diamonds and her mother's diamond. 25 total. I was so overwhelmed I cried. Then Scott teared up too. She said it was already in her will to me and she would rather give it to me herself. It means so much.
      Take care Friend,
      Love,
      Danette

    1. Thank you Meredith. We are pretty close. She is my other Mother. I started dating Scott when I was only 15. The years have gone by too fast. It does not seem possible for her to be 87 already.
I am going to enjoy the shawl :)
      Take Care,
      Danette

It's a real blessing to have a MIL we can be so close to. She is coming along slowly. Went to another doctor appointment today. She is still very tired.
I will enjoy the shawl for sure :)
The color is so very pretty. I have a skein and a half left of it.
      Love to You Ruby,

  9. Oh my dear,
I've had pancreatitis, awful stuff very painful. You are a jewel for staying and caring for Pat. You must love each other very much. It is through encouragement and love that we heal. May the light of the Lord surround and fill you. How fortunate we are to share in lifting Pat's name to the Lord.

    Heavenly Father,
You are loving and merciful. May you look upon our sister, Pat, with mercy and love. May it be your will to heal and comfort her. Please, too, be with Danette and Scott as they care for their beloved.
May the Lord comfort you all. Lord,as family members, we must stay strong, advocate and keep a watchful eye while our loved ones are in the care of strangers. Lord, please only send encouraged caregivers with the hearts of servants and the strength of saints. Amen.

She is doing better now but still there are some things that just are not going to go completely away at this age. I still keep a close watch on her. Thankfully she is next door. So glad you have one you love too :)
